Digital education start-ups

Not only the form of organization of a company must be adapted to new technologies. The digital transformation process must already be designed in the educational institutions. This means that the education of our children and teaching staff must be partially reinvented or at least strongly adapted. But what can a lesson look like that is supported by digital tools?

Action- and development-oriented teaching with digital tools has long since ceased to be a mere dream of the future. It can already be easily implemented today. Even if many schools, the federal state and the federal government have not yet developed a concept for the use of digital tools, and even if only small budgets are available, it is possible with sufficient creativity and commitment. Many children and young people already have the hardware in their trouser pockets.

Children learn best when they combine their experiences, their thinking and their actions. This is exactly what happens when teachers use digital tools in class, because then the pupils themselves become active. However, the use of this technology must be taught from the outset and attention drawn to dangers.

Responding to the diversity of children and supporting them in training and further education, as well as the individual adaptation of teaching methods, also require intelligent educational networks. A network of educational offers, tools, systems and services, right through to digital content on the Internet. Such "Educational Technologies" must offer support in at least three areas:

  1. Searching and finding content
  2. Communication tools and tools for collaboration among each other
  3. Intelligent functions using educational analysis software

Attractive interfaces between learners and teachers are also needed. Every technology and every service used must support the teaching and learning process. It is also important to prepare and train the teaching staff accordingly so that they can use the possibilities in a pedagogically meaningful way. At present, it is still often a matter of chance whether and in what form prospective teachers come into contact with digital media.

The USA, Asia, Russia and the Arab world are investing enormously in the development of "Educational Technologies". There is also a remarkable willingness among learners and teachers to use this technology. If one were to jump on the startup hype now and understand schools as "digital educational startups", one could also bring a lot of innovation into the encrusted system here, which would lead to more performance and an adaptation to the future digital working world.
